When you use SnapMile, we may collect the following information:

  • Account Information: When you connect your Strava or Garmin account, we receive your User ID, username, email address (if provided), and profile information.
  • Activity Data: We access your running/fitness activity data including activity name, date, time, distance, duration, pace, route/GPS coordinates, elevation gain, and activity type.
  • Photos: If you choose to add custom background images to your overlays from your device's gallery or camera.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, app version, and device identifiers.
  • Usage Data: Features used, templates selected, crash reports and error logs.

1.3 Location Information

We access location data only through your Strava/Garmin activities to display your running routes on the map. We do not track your real-time location.

  • Core Functionality: To display your activity data and create visual overlays
  • Authentication: To verify your identity via Strava/Garmin OAuth
  • Personalization: To remember your preferences and settings

3. Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: Your access tokens and user preferences are stored securely on your device using encrypted storage.
  • Backend Server: Activity data is temporarily cached on our servers (hosted on Vercel) to improve performance.
  • Third-Party Services: We rely on Strava and Garmin APIs to access your activity data.

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS/TLS encryption, platform-specific secure storage, and minimum necessary permissions. We never store your Strava or Garmin passwords.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

We may share your information only with Strava/Garmin APIs (with your authorization), Google Fonts for text rendering, and map tile providers for route display.

5. Your Rights and Choices

  • View Your Data: You can view all activity data displayed in the app
  • Disconnect Account: You can revoke access to Strava/Garmin at any time by logging out
  • Delete Data: You can delete locally stored data by uninstalling the app
  • Revoke Access: You can revoke SnapMile's access via your Strava or Garmin account settings

6. Children's Privacy

SnapMile is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
